CWA / AT&T West Bargaining Bulletin #23
Tuesday April 3, 2012
The Company presented the Union with “an assessment” of Union Proposal #39B and made it clear they were not interested in the Union’s Wellness Plan. The Company would rather shift costs to the workers.
The Union made it clear today that we were not interested in shifting the Health Care costs to the members, the Union is willing to work on overall Health Care costs.
AT&T rejected Union Proposal #39B, not a surprise! The Company presented a revised Company Proposal 1A Benefits. The only change they made to their original proposal was the monthly premium was dropped from $70.00 to $40.00 for Individuals for the first year and from $150.00 to $85.00 for Families.
Note: The above amounts will be adjusted at the Company’s discretion to attain a projected 32% cost share in 2014 and to maintain a projected 32% cost share in 2015. This is a moving target! Here is a Company who pays its CEO Stephenson over 19 million dollars in compensation; $27,000.00 in Auto Benefits; $132,000.00 of Personal Use of Company Aircraft; $18,000.00 in Phone/Broadband; $5,700.00 in Country Club Fees; $14,000.00 in Financial Counseling; $9,000.00 in Home Security; $12,000.00 in supplemental Health Insurance Premiums, for Total Compensation of $22,018,334.00.
The Company rejected Union Proposal #41- Concessions, Union Proposal #27- Saving and Security Plan and Retirement Savings and Security Plan, and Union Proposal #37 Pensions.
The Company accused the Union of not being serious to reach an agreement by the expiration date of the contract, (which is now only four (4) days away).
We made it clear that it was up to them to start making some movement in their retrogressive proposals. We were not going to bargain away the gains we have made in the previous years. Our members fought hard to get the benefits and contract language we have today!
The Company has not moved on anything of any significance to the Union! The Union is contacting the Labor Councils in the areas throughout District 9 to get approval for Strike Sanction. Please keep yourself informed about the progress of Bargaining on a daily basis.
Tomorrow night at 5pm is a Nationwide AT&T Mobilization Call. Please get on the call and listen to the latest updates at the four (4) bargaining tables. We are all Fighting for the American Dream!
